A look at some major Sky Sports channels

Sky Sports Xtra is one among the four Sports Channels being aired by Sky Sports. This is a channel where you can see repeats as well as live sporting events. Sky Sports Xtra was first aired in April 1999 and it is offered as a free bonus channel if you also subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and 2.

A relatively new Sky Sports channel, Sky Sports HD Channel, first aired on the 13th February 2006, is well loved by cricket enthusiasts and lovers of English Premier League action. Others who love this channel are those who follow Football League and lovers of the Guinness Premiership Rugby.

For those who need to remain abreast with latest sporting news, Sky Sports has a special channel known as Sky Sports News that provides round-the-clock updates of the latest sporting news. This channel was launched on the 1st October 1998 and was the first BSkyB digital channel.

At the Races is a well known Sky Sports channel that works in partnership with British Sky Broadcasting and Channel 4, as well as Arena Leisure. However, Channel 4 collapsed and withdrew in July of the year 2004 after which At the Races remains a joint venture amongst BSkyB and Arena Leisure. It focuses on all UK horse racing events as well as horse racing in Ireland, North America and Germany.

You can also watch the pay-per-view PremPlus channel which is dedicated to showing Premiership Football (live events) throughout the day.
